Two recent, massive healthcare laws, the HITECH Act (aka electronic health records), and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (aka healthcare reform) are expected to have a major impact on our nation’s workforce. With a vibrant healthcare economy, the San Diego region will be significantly affected.

The 2010 Health IT Career Advancement Event
Following a morning and noon-time series of presentations, designed for public officials, healthcare providers, community based agencies, and educators, Health IT career advancement workshops will be presented at no charge to the public from 2:00 to 5:00 pm:
Workshop #1 will provide college students or – anyone seeking additional training — with an overview of the options available to prepare for Health IT careers.
Workshop #2 will provide employed and unemployed workers, with good work histories and transferable skills, information as to how to enter the field of Health IT.
Workshop #3 will show currently employed healthcare workers how electronic medical records adoption will change healthcare job responsibilities, skill requirements and create new career advancement opportunities.
An exhibit area will be open during the workshops. Healthcare employers will provide information about current and future employment opportunities, and healthcare educators will showcase education and training programs.
Optional, private 50-minute career coaching sessions are available by appointment only for a fee.
Note: There is limited seating for the workshops and in the exhibit area.
